R06 Paul Ricard - FRECA Race Preview

PREMA lands in southern France for Paul Ricard round

R06 Paul Ricard - FRECA Race Preview

PREMA Racing will continue its busy summer stint in the 2024 Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine by lining close to the French Coast at Circuit Paul Ricard. The modern 5.8-kilometer venue, perched in the hills outside Marseille, is a really challenging one for teams and drivers alike, with medium and high-speed corners in succession.

However, the team proved competitive in every 2024 round this season, with multiple wins and podiums. Ferrari Driver Academy member Rafael Camara achieved outstanding results so far, pulling away at the top end of the standings straight away. In the most recent FRECA event at the Hungaroring, Australian James Wharton also proved his winning potential, going from a front starting spot to victory. Ugo Ugochukwu has been in podium contention on multiple occasions so far. The American, a McLaren Driver Development Program racer, is looking forward to getting back to a track that handed him two podium finishes in F4 last year.

The hot weather will also be a factor, with the scorching European summer not giving any break. PREMA Racing achieved many remarkable results at Circuit Paul Ricard in the past, including the very first Formula Regional race back in 2019, and hopes to continue the positive tradition.

Rene Rosin - Team Principal
"Paul Ricard is a classic venue for Formula Regional and a place where we always performed well. It is also a place where drivers can learn a lot from its unique aspects so that is an added benefit. We want to keep being the leading contenders in Le Castellet and possibly make more steps forward in our 2024 chase. After the victories claimed by Camara earlier in the season, it was amazing to see Wharton collect a deserved maiden win. We know that Ugochukwu has the potential to be on top too, and we will aim at supporting him throughout the weekend."
