PREMA Racing moves to Hungaroring for Round 9

R09 Hungaroring - FIA Formula 2 Race Preview

The FIA Formula 2 Championship is moving fast into Round 9 as PREMA Racing gets set to go back at Hungaroring. Located close to the country's capital city of Budapest, Hungaroring has been a destination for the series since its inception and continues to mark a key step of the season. Three rounds at classic F1 venues are coming up before the teams and drivers leave for their Eastern finale.

Ollie Bearman and Andrea Kimi Antonelli are looking forward to a solid performance after capturing their first 2024 wins in the Red Bull Ring and Silverstone Sprint Races respectively. The Italian stands eighth in the championship table and he's aware that a positive weekend could signify considerable gains. Standing in P13, Bearman is looking to deliver some impressive runs to turn his season around.

The Hungaroring will be tricky since qualifying, with its unforgiving layout of flowing, slow to mid-speed corners not leaving many chances for overtaking. Having positive starting places will be key. In addition, the heat is expected to be considerable which will impact tyre degradation. For this round, series supplier Pirelli selected the P-Zero White Hard as the Prime tyre compound, while the Red Softs will be the Option.

Rene Rosin - Team Principal

"The first part of the season had its challenges, and we are working incredibly hard to maximize our potential. Seeing our drivers achieve wins is definitely a morale boost and an additional motivation, but we need to keep pushing to compete at our highest levels consistently. Hungaroring will be especially tricky as much of the weekend's outcome is decided in qualifying, so the approach to the weekend in technical terms is paramount, but we must be at the top of our game in every aspect to make the further gains that we know we can achieve."
