PREMA delivers multiple podium finishes in Singapore

R05 Singapore - F1 Academy Race Report

PREMA Racing came away from Singapore with four podium finishes this weekend as the F1 Academy series got underway at the stunning Marina Bay circuit in Singapore. Lining for round five of 2024, Maya Weug had her best weekend so far in the championship, ending up second twice with a brilliant run that included a pass for position in the opening lap of the second race.

Doriane Pin posted two third-place finishes. The French racer had a clean weekend securing points and podiums in a situation where facing the constant evolution of the track was a particularly tricky aspect, in addition to the heat and environmental conditions which the team's drivers mastered well across the board.

Tina Hausmann didn't have the easiest weekend, but still cruised to a points finish in race 1 and is now looking, as well as the rest of the team, to the upcoming testing opportunities and to the final two rounds of the series in the Middle East.

Joining the team in Singapore as a Wild Card, Ella Lloyd left a positive impression. The British racer secured a double points finish straight away at her series debut with a new team and on one of the series' most challenging tracks.

"I've been really looking forward to Singapore since it was my childhood dream to race here, a dream coming true so I'm super proud. A tough weekend, with too many technical issues for sure, we need to sort something out as a team. There is always something to learn, and this weekend I learned a lot about my mental strength and resilience. I'm also proud because the heat training I did really paid off and I didn't struggle with the conditions. I'm really looking forward to testing and then to the races in Abu Dhabi and Qatar."

"Globally the weekend was not bad because we had only one Free Practice and the key of the weekend was adaptation and in the end, we were there all the time. Qualifying was the key as we didn't take pole and it was very tricky to overtake and even to follow. We took two P3 finishes this weekend. For the championship, 95 points it's quite far to catch up. Overall we did a decent job and I'm happy to bring podiums and points for the Team Championship. Now we need to focus on Qatar and Abu Dhabi for the last two rounds of the championship."

"I loved the track since the first laps we did here and I felt really good. The track has been changing so much in every session, which has been quite tough for us because usually we know what to expect but now we didn't. It wasn't easy to get the balance of the car right but I think we maximised everything. There was a bit more in there in qualifying but it was on the limit. The race here is quite tough, I tried to be aggressive on the first lap, which I think I did quite well and after that, it's just managing the tyres and trying to stay out of the walls."

"It has been a really positive weekend. Good pace and good points are the takeaways. It was the first time for me on a street circuit and in the car, and obviously with the team, but we got along very well, they made me feel at home, and that made it a lot easier. The team has done an excellent job with the car all weekend and that made my experience a lot better with a good car and team around me."
