R07 Abu Dhabi - F1 Academy Race Preview

PREMA sets sights on successful season finale at Yas Marina

R07 Abu Dhabi - F1 Academy Race Preview

F1 Academy will be back for its season finale this weekend and for round 8 at Yas Marina, there will be an expanded schedule featuring three races. Coming from a curtailed event in Qatar, where Race 2 was canceled due to extensive barrier repairs, teams, and drivers will have the chance to recover the track time lost.

Race 1 winner Doriane Pin will try to sign off her maiden F1 Academy campaign in style. She has three wins and seven podiums to date and is keen for more. However, in Race 3 at Yas Marina, she won't be able to carry over her Lusail Race 2 pole: the grid will be decided by the third-fastest lap of qualifying.

While the Mercedes-AMG F1 Junior driver is laying second in points, Maya Weug is looking to trim her gap and fight for her first win in F1 Academy. A Scuderia Ferrari Driver Academy member with seven podiums achieved in 2024, Weug battled sickness last week but is now fully fit for the challenge ahead.

Tina Hausmann also faced sickness but, coming from a tough qualifying, she was set for a quick turnaround. The Aston Martin Aramco F1 racer now hopes to continue her growing trend with points finishes. A positive global performance will be a key factor for PREMA to secure the 2024 Team Championship.

The team's fourth card will be driven by wild-card racer Logan Hannah. The 20-year-old Scottish racer competed in Formula 4, Formula Ford and GB4, and also gained GT and prototype experience in the last two years.

RENÉ ROSIN - Team Principal

"The 2024 F1 Academy season has been an exciting ride and we are determined to cap it off in a positive way. We are leading the Team Championship, and we want to give our drivers the best opportunities. We rely on the good experience we have with this type of car at Yas Marina and we rely on Doriane, Maya, and Tina to get the job done."
