PREMA Racing faces qualifying challenges in Bahrain

R02 Bahrain - FIA Formula 2 Qualifying Report

PREMA Racing had a tough day at Bahrain International Circuit as the team lined up for the second round of the FIA Formula 2 Championship.

The team could not find the right compromise ahead of qualifying and struggled to find pace. Gabriele Minì eventually finished in P12, while Sebastian Montoya qualified in P18.

With the work done in testing and early in the weekend expected to provide a boost in the races, the team is now looking forward to continue pushing ahead of the Sprint and Feature.

#9 SEBASTIAN MONTOYA

"Not where we want to be especially after testing being so positive and having so much pace. It's the first time this year we lacked speed and we have to work on it. I know our race pace is quite strong and the rest of the weekend will be good. Obviously, I would like to do less overtaking to show the potential we have, but we are here to learn, score points, and improve throughout the season. P18 is what we have and we got to make the most out of it."

#10 GABRIELE MINÌ

"A disappointing result, to be honest, after being so strong in testing. We just couldn't really find the pace. We struggled a bit in practice, but we worked through it and apparently, we haven't found a good compromise yet. It's not the end of the world, we are still close to the top 10, we have to work to make sure that the race pace we had in the test will be the same for the Sprint and the Feature so we can gain some places and some points."
