PREMA Racing set for Monaco street course challenge

R04 Monte Carlo - FIA Formula 3 Race Preview

FIA Formula 3 returns to continue its spring doubleheader this weekend, and it will be swinging from Imola to Monte Carlo before pivoting towards Barcelona. The world's most glamorous track will be hosting round 4 for this year's series, and PREMA Racing comes back to the track that handed the team a Feature Race win last year, looking to bounce back from a challenging early part of the season.

It was a challenging first part of the year for the team, with Ugo Ugochukwu and Noel Leon scoring two points finishes each. The American will make his first start at the famous street course, while the Mexican is returning to Monte Carlo after a fine 2024 debut. Brando Badoer will also be looking for a solid debut run in the Principality after showing promising runs but falling short of points in the previous event.

As always, the Monte Carlo event schedule will be unique. Practice will be anticipated to Thursday, and group qualifying will be in place to try and avoid heavy traffic situations. However, given how tight and unforgiving the track is, the choice is not a guarantee of a smooth session and perfect execution will be needed. At Monte Carlo, a small time window can determine the fate of a weekend, and every team will need to make sure to be on point when it matters.

Regarding the tyre choice, low degradation is expected, and three sets of Pirelli P-Zero Red Softs will be provided to the teams for qualifying and the races.

Rene Rosin - Team Principal
"After the progress we saw in Imola in terms of pace, we are optimistic that we can make more steps in Monte Carlo. It is always a special place to race, and that will add motivation in our effort to bounce back from a tough season start."
