PREMA Racing has up-and-down session in Le Castellet

R09 Paul Ricard - FIA Formula 2 Qualifying Report

PREMA Racing had another challenging qualifying session at Circuit Paul Ricard as the FIA Formula 2 Championship went underway with round 9 of 2022. The team lined up at the French venue with the goal of reversing its recent fortunes. However, it faced an up-and-down session.

Jehan Daruvala qualified in P10, enough to start from P1 in tomorrow's sprint race. The Indian improved throughout the session but eventually had to settle for a top-10 position.

Hauger had a troubled day. In practice, an engine issue forced him to stop at the side of the track, and despite using a new one for qualifying, another mechanical problem came into play, ending his run before he was able to use his second set of tyres. As a result, the Norwegian dropped back to P18.

#1 - Dennis Hauger
"We had an issue at the beginning of the second run which didn't allow us to use the last set, but with the first set, we were not there, things for me to work on definitely and things to focus on going into the race. It has been a hard day. Definitely, there will be opportunities for the races. Had a lot of fights here last year, there are things to do and it's just about trying to make the best of it again although obviously, it's not where you want to be."

#2 - Jehan Daruvala
"Qualifying didn't really show where the pace is. My lap wasn't I think too bad in the end, but still missing quite a lot. Hard to say what it really is, but I think we still have a strong racecar, starting first tomorrow, hopefully, we can win and start the fight to the front. I'll give it my best, let's see."
