PREMA Racing shows pace in red-flagged Zandvoort qualifying

R12 Zandvoort - FIA Formula 2 Qualifying Report

Dennis Hauger ended up with a seventh place in the qualifying session for round 12 of the FIA Formula 2 Championship at Zandvoort. On the challenging Dutch circuit, the Norwegian Red Bull Junior driver showed a positive pace, moving up to P3 on his first run.

After his first attempt with the second set of tyres, a red flag prevented Hauger from attempting a final improvement, and he had to settle for P7. Even when the session restarted, there was not enough time to complete the tyre warming procedure and go for a flying lap. Hauger will start the reverse-grid sprint race from P4.

Unfortunately, the late red-flag situation came into effect following a spin by teammate and fellow Red Bull Junior driver Jehan Daruvala. The Indian also fought for the top-5 in the early stages but was eventually classified in P17 as it could not restart after the incident.

#1 - Dennis Hauger
"I think overall we made a step forward in the qualifying run. I felt there was more to play with and sort around. The pack was quite close from P3 to P7. A small mistake and just struggling with the rears in the last sector maybe cost us a few positions. It's a bit of a shame, but I still think there are positive things to take from it and a step in the right direction. Now we have a bit more to play for this weekend. We'll see how it goes."

#2 - Jehan Daruvala
"Not a good qualifying from my side, I made a bit of a mistake in my second run on my first lap and spun on my second lap. I didn't improve from my first set, and I'm quite disappointed. I will try again tomorrow. Starting from P17 will be difficult, but I'll give it my best."
