PREMA Racing secure front row start for Monza Feature Race

R12 Monza - FIA Formula 2 Qualifying 1 Report

PREMA Racing's Ollie Bearman posted second place in qualifying for the penultimate round of the FIA Formula 2 Championship at Monza. The British racer delivered a very positive result in a session that was made particularly challenging by traffic in the final minutes.

Bearman will start from the front row of the feature race using the lap time he logged with his first set of tyres and is looking forward to continuing his outstanding rookie campaign.

On the other hand, Frederik Vesti was also prevented from improving the previous lap with the second set. The Dane had to settle for the 8th fastest lap, which will still enable him to start from row 2 of tomorrow's reverse-grid Sprint Race.

#7 FREDERIK VESTI

"Qualifying done in Monza. Of course, I'm very disappointed. It's a big weekend for me and this is not the result we were expecting and looking for. At the same time, it's Monza. I need to keep my head high because everything is possible in the races. The car is strong and Ollie showed it with P2 in qualifying, which is really good. Starting from P3 tomorrow and P8 on Sunday, there are still a lot of points and good racing ahead of us. I just want to stay focused on that and see what happens."

#8 OLLIE BEARMAN

"Considering everything, I'm quite happy with the qualy. You just need to be up there for a qualy like this because the races can go either way, and we managed to do so. A bit unfortunate because the team really gave me the car for more today, but I didn't manage to maximize my lap. Not super pleased with myself, but we managed to stick it to the front row."
